Larry Wilson, IIDA, ASID

Larry Wilson received his Bachelor of Design Degree in Interior Design from the College of Architecture, University of Florida in 1976. After practicing in Houston, Washington, DC and New York City, Wilson relocated to Jacksonville, Florida and opened Larry Wilson Design Associates with his wife, Laurie Hitzig in 1987.

With a desire to take the firm to the next level of regional and national recognition, Wilson merged his design expertise with Rink Reynolds Diamond Fisher Architects in 1999, The firm was renamed Rink Reynolds Diamond Fisher Wilson, P.A. In January 2005, the firm changed its name to Rink Design Partnership; Inc. Mr. Wilson is the Principal-In-Charge of Interior Design for the forty-eight-person firm.

The firm offers expertise in commercial and residential interior design specializing in restaurant, hospitality, retail and resort design. A large portion of the firms’ work is also focused on the commercial market. Clients include Matthew’s Restaurant, Restaurant Medure, Caffe Andiamo, The Lodge & Club at Ponte Vedra Beach, St. John and Partners, Husk-Jennings Advertising and Vestcor Equities. He has completed projects in New York, Chicago, California, Colorado, North Carolina and the Bahamas. With an aesthetic that is both elegant and urbane, the UF graduate is the artist behind some of Jacksonville’s most exquisite establishments.

Wilson has won numerous awards for his restaurant, hospitality, corporate and residential design. He has been honored with the prestigious Gold Key Award for Excellence in Hospitality Design and was an award recipient of the 26th Annual IIDA National Interior Design Competition. He has been recognized by IIDA, ASID and AIA. Mr. Wilson is the recipient of the Dupont Antron Award and the Solutia Doc Award. The award-winning designer has been published in numerous national & regional magazines, including Hospitality Design, Lighting Design & Application, Lodging, Interior Design, Florida Architecture, Florida Design, Florida International Style, Jacksonville Today, Metro, Florida Home and Garden and Arbus, as well as in the books, Stories of the Year – Volume II, Successful Restaurant Design, 2nd Edition and Hospitality & Restaurant Design No. 3.

Mr. Wilson was honored with the Bud Merle Foundation Award 2003. The award recognizes leadership and Design Excellence in the State of Florida. He was honored as Alumni of Distinction, College of Design, Construction, and Planning, University of Florida 2002. He recently was awarded the ASID Medalist Award, the highest honor bestowed by ASID on a professional member for outstanding service & contributions to the chapter.

Dedicated to the crafts of interior design and artistry, Wilson spends his free time serving on several advisory boards, including the Advisory Board to the Interior Design Department, College of Design, Construction & Planning at the University of Florida. He has been appointed to the Mayor’s Commission on Art in Public Places, He is also a Trustee on the board of the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art. He has been a national spokesperson for ASID related to hospitality and lighting design. He has been an IIDA juror for the new product design competition at the national Hospitality and Design Expo in Las Vegas the last three years. He is currently the IIDA National Hospitality Forum Advisor. He served on a national ASID “trends” scanning committee. Wilson previously served on the Editorial Advisory Board for Florida Home and Garden Magazine, the Board of the Jacksonville Coalition for the Visual Arts and the Board of CITYART Inc., a not-for-profit organization. He was also past Chairman of Ethics and Appellations for the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), past President of the Florida North Chapter of ASID and past Director of the Jacksonville Chapter of ASID.
