Terry Marks is principal of tmarksdesign, a multi-disciplinary design firm in Seattle, WA. He was found deficient in forward rolls in the first grade, was separated from the rest of the class in the third, and was sixth grade class president (quite possibly the best three years of his life.).
Terry serves on the Executive Board for Link, an art outreach program in Seattle which serves high school aged students which is a model for similar programs throughout the U.S. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of AIGA Seattle, having served for seven years as a Board Member, the last four as a Vice President.
Often speaking around the country, 2005 saw his second appearance as a speaker at the HOW Design Conference. This year he will judge the Step Inside magazine Design Annual.
He co-chaired the Oodles of Doodles For Your Noodle project: an activity book for hospitalized and seriously ill children for the non-profit Art with Heart. Oodles is an award-winning project and has been adopted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation as a resource and is also endorsed by the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the Starbright Foundation. He and his firm actively participate in work for additional non-profits including ASTAR Center, the Experimental Education Unit, Friends of Arthur - all dealing with autism and Powerful Voices, which works with girls in juvenile detention.Terry has been a contributing writer for HOW and the work of his firm has been recognized by Print, Critique, HOW, Neenah, Potlatch and a few others including his fourth grade 4-H. He has written no less than three book projects for Rule 29, a Chicago design firm. One, Mr. Crumbly Dreams A Tiger, was selected as a Perfect 10 project in a national competition of HOW Magazine. His photography, letterpress work, and illustration have all had gallery showing. Additionally, Terry is an amateur filmmaker.
But what he really wants to do is direct.
